Broken BP Device Tied to Day Care Mercury Poisonings

A 3-year-old boy was hospitalized with mercury poisoning after exposure to a broken sphygmomanometer at a home day care center in Florida, CDC researchers reported.

On Nov. 12, 2015, the child had a urine mercury level of 79 μg/L, with clinical signs and symptoms that suggested chronic exposure to mercury vapors, reported Mackenzie Twelle, MA, of the CDC, and colleagues.
