As Redwood City grows, infrastructure demands increase. Demands on everything water, sewer, roads, parking, parks, schools, police and fire services and schools increase commensurately. Often lost in the discussion, however, is child care — a necessary but scarce resource for families — vital to the health of our community.
Last year, the city of Redwood City commissioned a child care needs assessment to measure the growing shortage in the availability of child care. The assessment included a number of findings including:
