Daycare evacuates during gas leak (Video)

Construction workers at an apartment building going up in downtown Winston-Salem accidentally caused the rupture of a natural gas service line during the late morning on Monday, with nearly 130 children at a nearby daycare evacuated before service was restored in the early afternoon.

No one was injured. Until the leak was stopped around 12:30 p.m., Winston-Salem police had several blocks closed off in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Chestnut Street, where a new apartment building is under construction and at which the rupture happened.
